In the past, Group A bacteria and W1 cases of meningococcal disease have been linked to the Hajj pilgrimage. Due to the vast number of pilgrims from around the world, the Saudi authorities have to take all the necessary precautions to ensure that the pilgrimage process is safe for everyone. In the light of these events, the quadrivalent ACWY vaccine has been made compulsory for pilgrims on Hajj and Umrah and other visitors to Saudi Arabia during hajj season since 2002.
Any pilgrim on Hajj and Umrah aged 2 and above must present a valid certificate of vaccination for ACWY on entering Saudi Arabia. The certificate must be issued at least 10 days before the entry date to Saudi Arabia. This requirement also applies to seasonal workers during Hajj and Umrah season, entering Saudi Arabia.
At Reach Pharmacy, we provide a complete service offering the ACWY vaccination with a certification of vaccination administration. The service is available through the appointment and on walk-in basis. You can book an appointment online, by telephone or visit us at the pharmacy. We have provided vaccination for thousands of pilgrims over the years so if you are going on Hajj or Umrah, contact us as soon as possible to ensure that you meet the entry requirements and also protect yourself and your family during the pilgrimage.
